Daily Feed The Pentecost MissionAll about the Pentecost mission in the Internet
Inspiration from a Vatican documentWhen the Vatican came out with the 36th World Communications Day Message last May 12, 2002, part of that papal message mentions the divine impetus the Apostles received from the Holy Spirit to go out into the world and preach the gospel of Christ. This same divine impetus is what propelled many Catholics to out into the Net to also proclaim the gospel of Christ. Although there were others who already were using the Net for the purpose of evangelization before this document, still many more responded to the call when John Paul II issued his 36th World Communications Day Message. And one of those who responded to this call is this web site. The Pentecost spirit that impelled many to join in the mission of evangelization on the Net, is a spirit and spirituality of prayer, community, sharing, courage, bravery, zeal, contemplation, confidence, trust, and love for the Lord, His Church and His mission. To be formed in this same Pentecost mission spirit and receive the many blessings and gifts of the Lord, you may wish to follow the path forged in being a witness to Christ on the Net by following the steps we have taken below: (1) join the foundational list of the Catholic Internet Mission web site, The Spirit's Love Leaders Corps, which was founded on the same day as the 36th World Communications Day Message - May 12, 2002; that papal message speaks of the Internet as the New Forum for Proclaiming the Gospel; (2) undertake the spiritual programs and series of prayers that are given in the webpage, Theopneustos; (Theopneustos means "inspired by the Spirit"). The 30-Day Focus on the Person of the Holy Spirit and the 49-Day Prayer-Preparation for Pentecost is given annually at The Spirit's Love Leaders Corps (it is stored in the archives and can be accessed by using the search function of the list); (3) study well the guidelines of the document presented for the 36th World Communications Day; it is given in this web site at Vatican Document on Internet; (4) read, study, meditate, and contemplate well the scripture passages on the Pentecost event - as can be seen in any translation of the Bible; learn to understand what theology and spirituality the Pentecost experience is teaching us; the Pentecost experience is found in the first chapters on the book of the Acts of the Apostles; (5) read and study some of the articles in relation to the Pentecost theology and spirituality which is also found in the web page Theopneustos. (6) get to know the basics of building a web site or web log; there are basic tips and tools at A Catholic Triptych. More advanced tips and techniques are found in this web site; there is also a spiritual guideline given at 9 Pentecost Central at the topic Site-Building. (7) get to know how to start blogs and webrings; both spiritual guidelines can also be found at 9 Pentecost Central. (8) the most important and the most essential thing however is not so much the technological knowledge that you can build up in relation to this mission but the spirituality of mission and holiness that can be developed and intensified as a result of responding to the call of the papal message; the stress of John Paul's papacy has always been mission and holiness - and this is what we follow in our theology of mission and spirituality of mission in evangelizing on the Net; we follow the call of the papal message through a Pentecost spirituality of mission on the Internet as we live out our daily lives of mission and holiness also in the family and in our workplaces; we also follow the same pattern of holiness that the first Christian communities have witnessed, exemplified and shown to all people after the Pentecost experience wherein they shared their Christian life of faith. (9) one final addition to this Pentecost spirit is the papal message of the Holy Father as regards World Mission Sunday which was celebrated last October 24, 2004; the theme of that 78th World Mission Sunday is "Eucharist and Mission"; this is an important papal message since it speaks of mission in terms of a Eucharistic community - which originated from that first Pentecost community described in the Acts of the Apostles. (10) to understand this Pentecost spirituality on the Net better, one can join and be rooted in the experience of being a member of our foundational list and read through all the materials - prayers and articles - that have been produced by the members of the list, The Spirit's Love Leaders Corps; the profit of God's blessings come upon those who make themselves part of this mission list. |
